DAY 2 - Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay, ON

Alright, so second day we had a minor problem. After locking my tailgate to secure our skis in the box, I wasn't able to get it open again!! A nice guy from the hotel tried to help out by spraying some WD-40, but it was no use. So we piled up a few more bags in the cab, made it a little more cramped.

Chip in the window after driving behind a truck 20min before arriving in the Sault. We booked a chip repair in Thunder Bay Thursday morning.

The drive leaving Sault Ste. Marie on the way to Thunder Bay was gorgeous. So many nice observation points up on a hill looking out on the vast Lake Superior. It was extremely cold this morning and "ice fog" formed out on the lake.

Finally made it to Wawa. I was all excited to jump out grab a picture with the gigantic Canada Goose. My god was it ever cold!!!! My jacket froze in less than 30sec!!!

 ...without the wind chill

 ...brrrrrrrrrr

This was a very nice view from Marathon on top of a hill looking out onto Lake Superior. I wish I could find a better vantage point, unfortunately the power lines were in the way and I had maybe 2mins before my hands froze off!! ...finally got my tailgate open!

I fueled up on coffee. I drove from Sault Ste. Marie to Wawa. Lau took over from Wawa, made it to Marathon and was done. She wasn't doing too well, on top of an awful chest cough / cold, she had extreme neck and back pains. (...sure sure :P). So I need enough jolt to go on for another 3hrs.

Andre and Sam you may appreciate this. Passing by the other (west) side of the 11 - 17 junction.

As I said before, in a nutshell Lau is broken. We just checked-in at the Super 8 Thunder Bay. The town is very nice, definitely a large town, lots of stores and restaurants.

...cheers to the second day accomplishment!

We ended up on the road by 745AM and arrived in Thunder Bay at 5PM. The tavern we ate at in Thunder Bay is the Madhouse Tavern. Very friendly servers, awesome food and wicked atmosphere. I had an amazing burger with sweet potato mash and Lau had a chicken burger on a foccacia bun with sweet potato soup. Mmmmm mmm good!!

DAY 1 - Ottawa to Sault Ste. Marie

First blog of the trip!! Good god was it ever difficult waking up this morning! As exciting as it was to leave on our adventure out to the Yukon, we only had MAYBE 6hrs of sleep following an extremely long day of tying up a  bunch of loose ends and packing the endless little things that need to come with us. Anyways we finally packed up our truck and aimed due west!

Ottawa 417

So Lau may look like she's wide awake, but she is forcing every single muscle in her face to look "decent".

Leaving Ottawa Valley...

Made it to the big nickel!!! It's 1:30PM and we left Ottawa at 7:45AM, I don't know but I think that's pretty good time ;)

So we're flyin' down the 17 near Blind River and see this big red thing on the left. "Is that a chair?" Ya pretty much puts the one at Mont Tremblant to shame!!

It's crazy how much the weather changed from one place to the next. It went from cloudy, snowing, rain, snowing, blizzard, to cloudy and the temperature went from 2C to -8C in 3hrs!

We made it and in good time! 9hrs and 45min considering the fact that we were behind a plow for a good hour and were caught in half a blizzard!
