Haines Beer Fest 2012

HAINES BEER FEST 2012

So we were very excited on this trip, going to Haines, AK for the Beer Fest! Haines is actually about 40km away from Skagway on the water but to drive it takes roughly 4hrs instead of under 2hrs to Skagway.

This is Kathleen Lake on the edge of Kluane National Park (where Mt. Logan is).

Our first Grizzly Bear sighting. Up to now, we had seen lots of wildlife, including quite a few Black Bears, but finally saw a Grizzly Bear. Apparently Grizzlies are very common along the Haines Highway.

This was our camp in Haines. For the Beer Fest, they let you camp on the city property for free so long as you don't drink outside. Therefore we set up a gazebo with a tarp over it = problem solved :D

Along with us is my coworker and his friends from Juneau, AK.

This was the banquet on the Friday night. Along with every course, there were 5, a beer was paired up.

Too much beer...

Too much of something...

I DARE you!!

This was the actual Beer Fest on Saturday. They had a tent with approx. 10 different breweries showcasing their beers. You were given a glass, a little one mind you, and you had three hours to go nuts!

Town of Haines, AK

Some pirates stopped over...

This is Chilkoot Lake near Haines. There is a very nice camping area and apparently very good Salmon fishing.

View from the highway overlooking Haines Junction, YT and the mountains beside on the edge of Kluane National Park
